The Challenge

Create a scalable virtual event for the leading social network.

In an era where digital interactions often lack depth and cultural resonance, Meta recognized the need to create meaningful virtual experiences that celebrate and amplify Black voices. The challenge was to design an event that not only showcased Black culture and innovation but also fostered genuine community engagement within a virtual space.

Through strategic departmental alignment and creative strategy, I created a first of its kind event in a virtual reality space. I teamed up with metaverse developers and designers to build an interactive VR space in horizon worlds to host a virtual event. We kept audience engagement through exclujsicve virtual after parties with DJs and the ability to connect with Meta employees virtually. This collaborative effort with Meta’s engineering production, and attract teans ensured the event effectively met both user needs and business objectives.

  • Concept Development: Crafted the overarching theme and vision for the event, ensuring it authentically represented Black culture and addressed the community’s needs.
  • Content Curation: Collaborated with Black creators, artists, and thought leaders to develop a diverse lineup of sessions, performances, and discussions that highlighted Black excellence and innovation.
  • Integrated Marketing Strategy: Designed and implemented a comprehensive marketing plan that utilized social media, email campaigns, and partnerships to maximize event reach and engagement.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Worked closely with Meta’s product, engineering, and design teams to create an immersive virtual environment that was both user-friendly and reflective of the event’s cultural themes.
  • Community Engagement: Developed interactive elements, such as live Q&A sessions and virtual networking opportunities, to foster a sense of community among attendees.
